What Clients Say

In their own words

CL

Chen Li Ming

Tampines · March 2025

"I came in not knowing what my options were after fifteen years of marriage. The sitting gave me a clear picture of where I stood — not just the law, but what the process would actually involve. I left feeling less afraid than when I arrived."

Jurong West · February 2025

"The custody matter was difficult. The firm never pushed me towards a particular outcome — it helped me think through what was actually workable for my children given our circumstances. The written advice at each stage was something I could return to when I felt uncertain."

Buona Vista · April 2025

"We used the mediation service and reached an arrangement in two sessions that I genuinely did not expect to be possible. The firm was quiet during the process but spoke clearly when it mattered. I found that reassuring."

Bishan · January 2025

"I had spoken to another firm before this one. The difference was that Hua Counsel actually read the documents before the sitting rather than asking me to explain everything again from scratch. It felt like my situation had been taken seriously."

David Tan Boon Kiat

Toa Payoh · March 2025

"The divorce proceedings were more drawn out than I'd hoped — but I understood why at each stage, which made a real difference. The firm kept me informed without being asked to. The maintenance arrangement we reached was one I could actually sustain."

Siti Mariam bte Othman

Bedok · February 2025

"I only needed the initial sitting. The written note was thorough — more detailed than I expected for the fee. I ended up not needing further representation, which the firm acknowledged was a perfectly good outcome. That honesty was appreciated."

Case Studies

Three matters, briefly told

Details have been altered to protect the privacy of those involved. The circumstances described are representative of the types of matter the firm handles.

Case Study 01 — Custody

The situation

Two parents, three children aged four to nine. A divorce had been agreed in principle but custody arrangements had become a point of genuine difficulty, with each parent holding firm to positions that could not both be satisfied.

What the firm did

The matter was taken to mediation after two sessions of position-clarification advice. The firm prepared a practical custody proposal based on the children's schooling arrangements and the working schedules of both parents, which neither party had previously drawn up.

The outcome

Agreement reached at the third mediation session. Formal consent order obtained. Total duration: four months. Court appearance was not required.

"The children's routine is working. That was the whole point." — client

Case Study 02 — Divorce & Ancillary Relief

The situation

A marriage of twenty-two years. The client, who had spent much of that time in a caregiving role, was uncertain how the matrimonial home and assets would be treated by the court and whether a fair outcome was achievable.

What the firm did

The firm provided an early written note on the likely range of outcomes under Singapore law. It then represented the client in ancillary relief proceedings, drawing on decisions of the Court of Appeal on direct and indirect contributions to matrimonial assets.

The outcome

A division broadly within the range the firm had indicated was achievable. The client retained the matrimonial home and received a maintenance order. Total duration: eleven months.

"I knew roughly where things would land because the firm had told me from the beginning." — client

Case Study 03 — Maintenance Variation

The situation

A maintenance order from three years earlier had become difficult to sustain following a change in the paying party's employment circumstances. Both parties were willing to discuss but had reached an impasse.

What the firm did

After an initial sitting for the client, the firm advised on the prospects of a variation application and the factors the court would consider. It then represented the client in a single mediation session at which revised figures were proposed.

The outcome

A revised maintenance amount agreed, reflected in a consent variation order. No contested hearing was required. Total duration: six weeks from first sitting.

"We needed someone to help us find a number that would actually hold. The firm did that." — client
