Common Questions

Questions people often bring

What happens at a first sitting?

A first sitting is a private meeting, typically lasting around 60 to 90 minutes, at which you describe your situation and the firm outlines what the law provides. Afterwards, you receive a written note summarising your position. There is no expectation that you proceed further.

How long do divorce proceedings typically take in Singapore?

Uncontested divorces in Singapore can be concluded in three to six months. Where matters such as custody or the division of assets are disputed, proceedings may take considerably longer — sometimes one to two years. The firm's preference is always to identify a path that shortens this.

Is mediation suitable for all family disputes?

Mediation tends to be well-suited where both parties are willing to engage in good faith and where the core issues are custody or maintenance rather than complex financial arrangements. The firm is candid where another route would serve the client better.

Will my information remain confidential?

All information you share with the firm is subject to legal professional privilege and is kept strictly confidential. This applies from the first sitting onwards, including where no retainer is subsequently entered into.

What are the firm's fees?

The initial sitting is SGD 170. Representation in family proceedings starts at SGD 455, and mediation work at SGD 320. All fees are discussed openly at the outset. The firm does not charge for time spent clarifying the scope of a retainer.
